The difference, drawn

Every conventional system heats a room from the outside in.

A radiator, a heat pump or a warm-air unit warms air, then waits for that air to carry the heat to you. Hot air rises, stratifies at the ceiling and leaves the moment a door opens. Radiant heating skips the carrier: energy travels as far-infrared, is absorbed by surfaces and people, and warms them directly. It is the most natural way to be warm, the same mechanism as the sun, and because nothing is wasted heating air you will never occupy, it is both more comfortable and more energy efficient than any system that moves heat around on air or water.

Radiant: the surfaces of the room are the heating

The whole floor, wall or ceiling emits far-infrared at a low surface temperature. Energy is absorbed by you and by the room's surfaces directly, so comfort holds when a door opens and the air is never heated hard enough to dry it out. Nothing is ducted or vented, and floor, wall and PowerBoard 250 systems are invisible once finished.

The wavelength

Our surfaces emit long-wave infrared at 6 to 15 µm, the same band your own body radiates at. It is absorbed at the skin rather than passing into it, it cannot be seen, and it warms the room's surfaces as readily as it warms you.

    Heat load and layout

    Send us plans and a construction spec. We return a room-by-room heat loss calculation, element layout drawings, circuit and load schedules, and the electrical design your contractor builds from.

  2. Manufacture

    Elements prepared to your room design

    Carbon-fibre elements prepared and pre-cabled to your room design, from 600 to 900 mm wide and in variable lengths depending on the product type. No additional wiring and no manipulation of the films is required on site.

  3. Control

    Zoning and thermostats

    Thermostats, sensors and zone logic specified with the system, so a fast-responding surface is actually run fast. Low-voltage systems run on the LaminaHeat Multi Zone Power Supply: up to five independently controlled zones per unit, up to 6000 W, 110–240 V in and 12–48 V out, with a PV or battery DC input.

  4. Support

    Installer support and sign-off

    Method statements for your trades, a pre-cover inspection checklist, remote support during the install, and commissioning records for handover. Your electrician and your plasterer fit it.

  5. Warranty

    Certification and warranty

    CE and UKCA marked across the range, BEAB tested to IEC 60335-1, with SafeTech EGS additionally UL listed. ISO 9001 manufacturing, a 10-year product warranty and a tested 20+ year service life with under 3% output degradation.

The material

At the core of every system: a carbon-fibre element.

Carbon fibre is what lets a heating element be full-surface, from 0.4 to 1.4 mm thick, fully grounded and safe enough to bury in a wall for the life of the building. It is why we can size the element to the room instead of picking one from a shelf.

A three-storey house hand-built in 1950 and heated by a wood-fired oven ever since. ComfortScrim went into the walls of the 36 m² living and dining room, 15.6 linear metres of 600 mm film on a 3200 VA supply, and was plastered straight over.
